    My weight-loss journey started about a year ago when, on my 40th birthday, I had a good, long look at myself. Try as I might, I just wasn’t losing weight. I was instead beginning to lose hope. But then, like the rainbow after the storm, I was channel surfing one day and that beautiful angel Rachel Ray (thanks for that casserole recipe, by the way) told me that not all was lost. She was discussing this thing called the acai (pronounced ah-sai-ee) berry, which is the fruit produced by a certain variety of Amazonian palm-tree. She said the berry:

    3. Would speed up my metabolism

    It sure sounded like a winning weight-loss combination to me!
