MY BATTLE WITH THE BULGE

My name’s Jessica Dawson, and I’m in the best shape of my life. “What, are you bragging or something?” I hear you ask, and the answer is yes. Yes I am. You see, I used to be more than a little overweight. In fact, just eight weeks ago I weighed 178 pounds!

My weight-loss journey started about a year ago when, on my 40th birthday, I had a good, long look at myself. I was unhealthy, and I realised that if I wanted to be around to see my two daughters (Shelly is 6 and Tiffany just turned 4!) reach their 40ths, something would have to drastically change.

 

I tried literally dozens of solutions – from those ab-crunchers you always see advertised late at night to all sorts of diets, but I couldn’t seem to keep the pounds off, and even then, progress was slow. Try as I might, I just wasn’t losing weight. I was instead beginning to lose hope. But then, like the rainbow after the storm, I was channel surfing one day and that beautiful angel Rachel Ray (thanks for that casserole recipe, by the way) told me that not all was lost.
